Biography

Andrew Fay is a musician and writer based in Greater Manchester, originally hailing from Cambridgeshire.

Andrew attained a degree in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology from the University of Warwick. Here, he developed a keen interest in ancient military history.

Whilst at Warwick, Andrew also began work on a dark fantasy series, with the working title The Greyhand. This series follows a mercenary band with a deep-rooted sense of identity and tradition, struggling against the magical world around them.

Andrew’s other interests include instrumental songwriting, running, and video games.

Writing

Andrew joined Manchester Speculative Fiction in 2019, and the group is currently critiquing the first draft of his debut novel, The Walls of Carryck. The Walls of Carryck follows the Greyhand as they try to save the city of Carryck from an army of necromancers.

Andrew is also currently drafting a sequel to The Walls of Carryck entitled A Plague of Saints. A Plague of Saints is both a continuation and peripheral view of the world of The Greyhand. He has also completed the first draft of short spin-off, Best Left Forgotten. Best Left Forgotten is a prequel to The Walls of Carryck and Andrew will submit it for critique by the group soon.
